How to Take Your Measurements

Total Length

Lay the ascot flat on a smooth surface. Using a soft tape measure, measure from the very tip of one blade, along the full length of the fabric, to the tip of the opposite blade.

Blade Width

At the widest point of the larger blade, measure straight across the fabric from edge to edge. This measurement determines how much coverage you will have when the ascot is draped.

Neckband Width

Find the narrowest section of the ascot — this is the neckband that sits against your collar. Measure straight across at this point. A narrower neckband gives a neater, more discreet look under a shirt collar.

Recommended Collar Fit

Our ascots and cravats are designed to complement standard dress-shirt collar sizes. Match your collar measurement to the recommended range above to ensure the ascot sits and drapes correctly at your neckline.

Styling Tips

  • Formal occasions: Fold and pin the ascot inside a spread or cutaway collar for a polished, traditional look.
  • Smart casual: Allow the blades to fall freely over an open-collar shirt for a relaxed, continental style.
  • With a waistcoat: Tuck the ascot into the waistcoat's second button for a classic Victorian silhouette.
  • Knot or drape? Most of our ascots are designed for draping rather than knotting — the generous blade width is intended to create a soft, layered effect at the chest.
